THE INVESTIGATIVE SCOPE

Examine the method. Test the evidential consequence.

365 ALTERAM scopes independent anthropology & archaeology review for serious and complex criminal matters. Bring excavation and recovery records, scene maps, photographs, skeletal assessments and identification material into a common evidence register. Scope specialist review of recovery methods, contextual associations and conclusions drawn from the remains. We define the question, available material and required specialist competence before proposing the work.

01

How securely are the remains, location and alleged event connected?

Examine whether recovery context supports the proposed association and whether uncertainties in identification, skeletal findings and deposition have been preserved in the reporting. Separate an estimate from a uniquely established identity or precise chronology.

02

What would an independent examination add?

Bring excavation and recovery records, scene maps, photographs, skeletal assessments and identification material into a common evidence register. Scope specialist review of recovery methods, contextual associations and conclusions drawn from the remains.

03

Where could this change a high-stakes case?

In homicide, disappearance and war-crimes cases, an assumed connection between remains and an event can shape the entire allegation. 365 ALTERAM can integrate the recovery record with other evidence and identify the specialist questions that may materially qualify that connection.

04

Which limits must remain explicit?

Recovery, examination and handling of human remains require lawful authority, appropriate expertise and respectful practice. Skeletal observations do not automatically establish a perpetrator or a precise time of death.

THE PURPOSE

When decades of liberty are at stake, every decisive forensic inference deserves independent scrutiny.

WHEN LIBERTY IS AT STAKE

Where 365 ALTERAM
can make the difference.

In homicide, disappearance and war-crimes cases, an assumed connection between remains and an event can shape the entire allegation. 365 ALTERAM can integrate the recovery record with other evidence and identify the specialist questions that may materially qualify that connection.

For allegations carrying very long or life imprisonment, our role is to connect this discipline to the precise disputed act, identify what can be tested and provide counsel with a clear route back to the source. We preserve findings that support, weaken or leave the allegation unresolved.

HOW AN INSTRUCTION BEGINS

The BALANCE-7 approach
01 / DEFINE

The question
comes first.

We clarify the material issue, available records, authority and jurisdictions before proposing the work.

02 / EXAMINE

Evidence meets
independent scrutiny.

The agreed workstreams connect sources, test reasoning and identify what remains unresolved.

03 / REPORT

Findings return
to their sources.

Counsel receives a scoped record of the analysis, supporting exhibits and material limitations.

BEFORE YOU INSTRUCT

Clear questions.
Straight answers.

Does 365 ALTERAM carry out every test in its own laboratory?+

No such claim is made. 365 ALTERAM scopes, coordinates and integrates independent forensic review. Medical examinations, laboratory testing and reserved expert opinions are assigned to appropriately qualified practitioners or laboratories under an agreed instruction. Availability, authority and any relevant accreditation scope are checked for the actual work.

What will counsel be able to do with the findings?+

The agreed report identifies the source for each material finding, separates facts from inference and records the specialist’s methods and limitations. Counsel can use it to formulate expert questions, seek further material or consider a properly supported challenge. Legal use and admissibility are assessed in the relevant jurisdiction.

Can the review confirm an existing conclusion?+

Yes. Independence means reporting supportive, adverse and inconclusive findings consistently. We examine the record rather than promising a defence-favourable answer. Qualified counsel directs legal strategy and the court determines the use and weight of the evidence.

How does an instruction begin?+

Start with a neutral summary, relevant jurisdictions, procedural dates and the disputed forensic question. Do not send sensitive records through an initial enquiry. Scope, fees, lawful access, confidentiality and evidence-transfer arrangements are agreed before substantive work.

No acquittal, sentence reduction, recovery or specific expert finding is guaranteed. Work is subject to lawful authority, specialist availability, competence and the material preserved. Original sources, handling history, analytical assumptions and limitations remain traceable.
