Fictional case 08 · INTERPOL notices and CCF support

The international alert carrying the wrong identity

Canada, the Philippines and the Netherlands

The allegation

An engineer discovers that personal data circulated through INTERPOL links her to a procurement fraud investigation abroad. The underlying documents concern another person with a similar name who worked for a related contractor. An English summary combines the engineer's passport details with that person's corporate role. The resulting record appears internally consistent until the original documents are compared.

The independent investigation

In this fictional case, 365 ALTERAM assists instructed counsel by reconstructing identity records, employment dates, company appointments and the procedural history. Certified source documents establish different birth dates and employment periods. A qualified translator identifies where two names were merged in the summary. The review also confirms that the engineer had a legitimate, documented connection to one supplier, so the report explains that connection rather than omitting it. Every proposed correction is matched to an identified source.

The hearing and fictional outcome

Counsel submits the factual dossier through the applicable CCF procedure. In the fictional outcome, the CCF decides to delete the data concerning the engineer after considering the identity mismatch and submissions. Separate work is still required to correct relevant national records. The decision is presented as an INTERPOL data-processing determination; it does not decide the guilt of the person under investigation or dispose of the underlying national proceedings.

The principle in practice

A person affected by an international alert needs an effective route to place verifiable corrections before the competent reviewing body. This administrative review illustrates the wider value of hearing the affected person's evidence, without being equated to a criminal trial.

What this illustration demonstrates

Independent examination must record what supports the allegation, what challenges it and what remains unresolved. 365 ALTERAM supports counsel with source-linked findings and specialist coordination; the competent authority determines the legal consequences.
